I’m Juan Diego Soler, a scientific researcher funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) at the University of Vienna’s Astronomy Department in Vienna, Austria.
I specialize in developing statistical tools for the study of the matter that extends between the stars in the Milky Way, what astronomers call the interstellar medium (ISM). I study observations in radio and far-infrared frequencies, as well as numerical simulations, to understand the physical processes that shape the clouds of gas and dust in our Galaxy. I combine my research activities with scientific outreach writing for El Espectador and in two published books about Antarctic astronomical explorations.
